Wicked Hits Live in Tulsa

There is a lot of buzz among Broadway lovers in Tulsa right now because the dazzling hit musical “Wicked: The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz” is returning to town!  Composed by Stephen Schwartz, “Wicked” is based on Gregory Maguire’s 1955 novel “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West” and L. Frank Baum’s 1900 novel “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.”

The story is shown from the Land of Oz witches’ perspective, and the plot starts after Dorothy’s arrival in Oz. The musical is about two uncommon friends, Glinda and Elphaba, who represent the opposing good and evil. Both struggle with their differences in personalities and viewpoints, which culminate in a love triangle and government corruption in the Land of Oz.

“Wicked” is the 11th longest running Broadway show and has won three Tony Awards, six Drama Desk awards, and one Grammy Award. “Wicked” has also broken box office records around the world, earning the highest weekly grossing sales in 2011 and again in 2013, earning $3.2 million from over 2 million patrons.

“Wicked” will be playing at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center from June 18th through July 6th. Tickets are still available, so grab your friends and witness one of Broadway’s greatest musicals of all time!
